Treating Clients with Maladaptive Boundaries

Maintaining healthy boundaries are an essential for having healthy interpersonal relationships. In this 2.5 hour live interactive online class, participants wll explore and discuss the different manifestations of maladaptive and dysfunctional boundaries as well as what constitutes health boundaries. Participants will explore ways to use the therapeutic relationship to better manage maladaptive boundaries and enhance and strengthen adaptive and healthy boundaries.

Class Objectives Include
1. Identify different types of maladaptive boundaries such as rigid, enmeshed, detached and how trauma informs different boundary styles

2. Define and list the different elements if adaptive and healthy boundaries

3. Identify interventions for the different types of maladaptive boundaries

4. Explain and recognize how the different factors such as biology and culture influences boundary formation

About the Instructor:
This course is taught by Veronica Vaiti, LCSW-R, CCATP. Veronica is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Bhava Therapy Group and the Social Work Consultant for the Bhava Therapy Group Continuing Education Program. Veronica received her Masters of Social Work degree and postmasters Advanced Clinical Training from New York University. She studied at the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy in their Clinical Fellowship Program as well as Sensory-Motor Psychotherapy for Trauma, Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy, Yoga Therapy and numerous other trainings. Veronica has over 20 years experience as a psychodynamic, somatic and experientially oriented psychotherapist, supervisor, teacher, author, administrator and consultant.

Course Completion Requirements:
To earn CE credit, social workers and mental health clinicians must log in at the scheduled time, attend the entire course and complete both the online posttest and course evaluation. Upon completion of the live course, you will be immediately prompted to complete the posttest and then the course evaluation. Once you receive a passing score of 80% or above (you will have an unlimited number of attempts to take the posttest), you will be prompted to complete the course evaluation. Participants will have a 24-hour time window from the end of the live course, within which both the posttest and the course evaluation must be completed in order to receive credit. A certificate of completion will appear within your bhava-therapy.thinkific.com account and you will receive an email congratulations message and link to your Certificate of Completion as well.

CE Information:
Bhava Therapy Group, #1782, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers.  State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Bhava Therapy Group maintains responsibility for this course.  ACE provider approval period: 12/09/2021 – 12/09/2022.  Social workers completing this course receive 2.5 continuing education credits.

Refund Policy

Refunds for live in-person courses are offered up to 1 week in advance of the course start date. Refunds for live online courses are offered up to 24 hours prior to the start of the course. Refunds are issued in the original form of payment used.  Any cancellations or requests for refunds after the 1 week or 24 hour window respectively are reviewed on a case by case basis. Requests for refunds or cancellation after the 1 week or 24 hour window, if granted, may qualify only as a credit for future courses not as a refund of the original payment used.
