Clinical Psychotherapist
(she/her/hers)
Hello there, I’m Lydia Schinasi, a Licensed Social Worker with a master’s degree from NYU and training from a psychoanalytic institute. I have extensive experience treating people from various backgrounds and identities, including older teens, college students, and adults. I am committed to supporting individuals struggling with many mental health issues including depression, anxiety, grief, and major life transitions. While I have a solid foundation in psychodynamic techniques, I am also a holistic practitioner that integrates various approaches including CBT, ACT, Logotherapy, and Applied Improvisation. I’ve volunteered as a Crisis Text Counselor and at NY Presbyterian Hospital supporting families with children in the NICU/PICU. Additionally, I’ve co-led a support group for teenagers experiencing chronic pain.

My approach to care is centered around the power of the therapeutic relationship. I view it as a partnership where the client is empowered to develop insight, self-awareness, and resilience. I understand that each individual is unique, with their own set of circumstances. Therefore, I tailor my approach to meet each client’s specific needs and goals, drawing from a range of techniques.

What sets me apart as a therapist is my prior experience thriving in high pressure corporate environments. This experience gives me a unique perspective as I work with clients towards establishing healthier patterns and a stronger sense of self. I am committed to helping clients achieve their goals and reach their potential while bringing care, curiosity, humor, and creativity into the therapeutic space.
