Integrating Yoga And Psychotherapy For Anxiety

In this timely training participants will gain an important understanding of attending to the mind-body connection when managing Anxiety through incorporating basic yoga philosophy and practices. Participants will learn practical ways to incorporate basic yoga postures, pranayama (breathing practices), meditation and mantra into psychotherapy sessions for clients struggling with Anxiety. In this whole-person, holistic approach, participants will comprehend how yoga can support clients with accessing their emotions, how to self-regulate and begin to feel empowered in managing the anxiety they struggle with.
Class Objectives Include:
- Describe the origins and value of yoga philosophy and how it is relevant today
- Define the physiological benefits of the yoga practice and the impact of yoga has on the nervous system
- Show how to work with and support the mind-body connection when working with clients
- Demonstrate 2-3 pranayama techniques (breathing practices) that can be used in session with clients
- Demonstrate how to integrate meditation practices and seated and low-impact yoga postured into individual therapy sessions
- Explain how Sanskrit mantras and the power of sound can be used as a healing modality and show examples
- Describe how yoga practices can be used as a self-care tool for mental health practitioners

Course Completion Requirements:
To earn CE credit, social workers and mental health clinicians must log in at the scheduled time, attend the entire course and complete both the online posttest and course evaluation. Upon completion of the live course, you will be immediately prompted to complete the posttest and then the course evaluation. Once you receive a passing score of 80% or above (you will have an unlimited number of attempts to take the posttest), you will be prompted to complete the course evaluation. Participants will have a 24-hour time window from the end of the live course, within which both the posttest and the course evaluation must be completed in order to receive credit. A certificate of completion will appear within your bhava-therapy.thinkific.com account and you will receive an email congratulations message and link to your Certificate of Completion as well.
Bhava Therapy Group, #1782, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Requests for refunds or cancellation after the 1 week or 24 hour window, if granted, may qualify only as a credit for future courses not as a refund of the original payment used.
