Doriel Jacov, JD, LMSW

Clinical Psychotherapist
(he/him/his)
I am a licensed social worker with an MSW from Hunter College, a JD from Columbia University, and a BBA from George Washington University. I work with individuals of all ages with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life and career transitions, work-related stress, trauma/history of abuse, grief, shame, and questions around gender and sexuality. I enjoy working with those who are curious about the ways in which they may not understand themselves and who view the change process as a journey. I also work with couples navigating issues around communication, intimacy, infidelity, and significant life events.

I believe that putting words to experience within a collaborative therapeutic partnership can be immensely healing. I offer a warm, curious, and non-judgmental environment where we can safely explore anything you may be going through. My approach is psychodynamic, relational, attachment-based, and trauma-informed, and I incorporate behavioral, somatic, dreamwork, and other modalities based on needs and preferences. Over time, we will attempt to uncover the ways in which your past and present are linked, and how conscious and unconscious thoughts, feelings, and conflicts may be shaping your experience. We will also explore the ways that culture and systems relate to your experience.

Whether it’s your first time in therapy or you’ve been before, it takes courage to begin this process. Like many of my clients, I also have personal experience working in highly demanding professional environments. I welcome individuals, couples, and families of all backgrounds and identities, and I look forward to working together.
