Rachel Kimelman, LCSW

Clinical Psychotherapist
(she/her/hers)
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an LGBTQ affirming therapist with over a decade of experience in the field of mental health. I received a Master’s Degree from The Columbia University School of Social Work and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from SUNY Stony Brook. I previously worked in a community mental health clinic serving people of all ages and with seniors in supportive housing.

I have a background working with people who face a range of challenges such as adjusting to life transitions, anxiety disorders, ADHD, OCD, mood disorders, and trauma. I utilize a multi-modal therapeutic approach to meet clients’ individualized needs. These approaches include aspects of Psychodynamic Therapy, Strengths-Based Perspective, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client Centered Therapy.

I believe that trust is the core foundation for building a therapeutic relationship. To better understand the needs of my clients and build a foundation of trust, I use intuition, empathy and active listening. Therapy is a journey and healing can take shape in many different ways. I aspire to help people grow and attain greater insight and self-awareness so that they can actualize their potential.
