Clinical Psychotherapist
I am a New York State-licensed social worker, with a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Arts from Hampshire College, and training from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy’s Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia. My practice focuses on adults (grief/loss, Big and little-t trauma issues, anxiety/depression, body image and eating disorders/disordered eating) and couples (many struggling with feelings of disconnection and boundary disruptions, but also disconnection from joy).
My Approach
I see therapy as collaborative detective work, with an ear attuned to the stories we tell ourselves, the burden of labels, and communication styles that could be maintaining unhappiness. In addition to history, I pay special attention to a client’s nervous system (and neurodivergence), but also their openness to play, sense of humor and experiences with religion and spirituality. In the end (and yes, there is always an end in sight!), the best healing comes from feeling safe enough with me to share your secret rules and emotional truth so that you can come to truly know and love yourself.
What To Expect
From the get-go, I will find something completely lovable about you that commits me to solving your mystery. Trust will bloom so we can begin the deeper work. Having seen it all, I can convey hope to you, and compassion. My dark humor gives license to what was left unsaid, to fantasy. And most crucially, my lived experience as wife, mother and grandmother helps me draw out your own wise words — in the form of memorable mantras — that will carry you farther than you ever imagined.
