Alexandra Ramirez, LP-MSW

she/her/hers
Psychotherapist

My name is Alexandra Ramirez, and my mission is to empower individuals through compassionate, effective psychotherapy. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Stony Brook University in 2012, and since then, I’ve dedicated my career to helping pre-teens, teens, and families navigate life’s challenges and discover their strengths.

For over a decade, I’ve worked in school-based settings, gaining a deep understanding of the unique pressures young people face (academic stress, social changes, family transitions), and emotional struggles. These challenges can feel overwhelming for students and parents alike. I believe every young person has the potential to thrive, and my passion is helping them turn obstacles into stepping stones for growth and success.

One of my core values is cultural awareness, especially in supporting Latino/Latinx families. I understand how family dynamics and cultural identity shape the healing process. My work focuses on fostering inclusive understanding and helping families strengthen their connections so they can support one another effectively.
Ultimately, my mission is to guide students and families toward hope and healing because every challenge can become part of a success story. Whether your child is struggling with school stress, emotional challenges, or family transitions, or you’re seeking guidance as a parent, I am here to help. Together, we’ll work toward practical strategies that bring clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.

If you’re ready to take the next step toward growth and well-being, I’m here to walk that journey with you.

My Approach

Therapy with me is a collaborative process. I create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and understood. I know reaching out takes courage, and I strive to make every session positive and empowering. My goal is not only to address immediate concerns but to equip you with tools and strategies that build resilience and confidence for the future. I use evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to reframe negative thought patterns, Solution-Focused Therapy to emphasize strengths and set actionable goals, Mindfulness-Based Techniques to promote emotional regulation and calm, and Strengths-Based Counseling to help you feel empowered and confident.

What To Expect

When we work together, you can expect a calm, supportive, and collaborative space where you feel heard and respected. My tone is warm and encouraging, and I move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I believe therapy should feel safe and empowering, so I focus on building trust and creating practical strategies that fit your life. What makes me unique is my deep experience in school-based counseling and my commitment to cultural sensitivity, especially when working with Latino/Latinx, minority, and urban families. I understand the challenges teens and parents face and strive to make every session a positive step toward resilience and confidence. Together, we’ll turn struggles into opportunities for growth and healing.
