Hi, I’m Sophie! I’m a New York State licensed social worker. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University, my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from New York University, and have trained in family and couples therapy at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. I have experience working with individuals and couples navigating relationship issues, anxiety, depression, grief/loss/cancer, and other significant life transitions.
My approach to therapy is eclectic, meaning I draw from somatic, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral modalities as needed (including ACT, IFS, AEDP, Gottman Method, attachment theory, EFT). Most importantly, I believe that meaningful connection with others profoundly impacts our lives, and therefore aim to cultivate safe and affirming relationships with my clients.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in government and political organizing, which helps me apply a social justice lens to my practice and understand ways that social, political, and economic factors shape individual and collective well-being.
