MEETING THE GRIEVING: Working with Grief & Loss
A Self-Paced, Record Audio/Visual Conference, 2.25 CE Class

This course designed for social work mental health professionals, will address how to work with grief, loss and mourning. Loss is an essential and inevitable experience of the living that has vast and powerful ripple effects across all humanity. We can and do experience all kind of loss throughout our lives, not just loss via death. As mental health clinicians, it is imperative to cultivate a deeper understanding of the types of loss that exist, the clinical considerations present in loss, grief and mourning and be familiar with different interventions. Also, understanding how we process and cope with our own grief as mental health clinicians will inform how we relate to and can help our clients who are struggling to process their experiences of loss and grief.

Target Audience: Social work mental health professionals
Content Level: Beginning to Intermediate

Learning Objectives:

1. Define and discuss loss, grief and mourning and key clinical considerations
2. Assess our own grief landscape and explore and identify challenges and gifts of grief work
3. Share, discuss and demonstrate effective ways to meet the grieving
4. Recognize when and how to utilize expressive arts and experiential exercises in grief work

Course Agenda & Outline:
This 2.25 CE course includes  2 hours and 10 minutes of recorded video instruction organized into 16 consecutive modules, followed by a posttest module and a course evaluation module, module 17 and module 18 respectively. An additional section of the course includes the handouts and supporting documents: course bibliography, course slide deck, a blank tree diagram for an experiential exercise.

Course Completion Requirements:
To satisfy the requirements of the course in order to receive CE credit, all 16 recorded video course content modules must be viewed fully and completed in consecutive order before taking the posttest and completing the course evaluation. Course participants will be able to submit their answers for both the posttest and the course evaluation within the respective modules.  A passing score of 80% or above on the posttest must be achieved in module 17 before moving on to complete the course evaluation in module 18. Participants will be granted an unlimited number of attempts to take and pass the posttest to receive at least an 80% score. Once an 80% score is achieved, participants can move on to module 18 to complete the course evaluation. Upon completing module 18, a personalized Certificate of Completion will appear within the Thinkific platform and be emailed to the course participant and full CE credit will be awarded for this course. 

About the Instructor:
This course is taught by Veronica Vaiti, LCSW-R, CCATP. Veronica is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Bhava Therapy Group and the Social Work Consultant for the Bhava Therapy Group Continuing Education Program. Veronica received her Masters of Social Work degree and postmasters Advanced Clinical Training from New York University. She studied at the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy in their Clinical Fellowship Program as well as Sensory-Motor Psychotherapy for Trauma, Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy, Yoga Therapy and numerous other trainings. Veronica has over 20 years experience as a psychodynamic, somatic and experientially oriented psychotherapist, supervisor, teacher, author, administrator and consultant.
